My Story
This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Together, we can save little lives.
Thanks for your support.

Going uphill sucks
3 Oct 20253 days into the challenge for 2025. So far covered 27km which isn't bad considering I was unwell last week and still recovering this week. Also had a last minute mechanical issues which has meant my usual bike is out of order, so I've ridden Mary's bike these past 3 days (thank goodness for having another bike in the home). Hoping to get a new one next week (fingers crossed).
Day 1 ride - a good start and I was able to leave a few more bracelet packs out at some playgrounds.
Day 2 - a bit windy and I timed my ride with some rain. A quick 5km given the weather conditions.
Day 3 ride was a killer for the legs, a lot of hills that my legs just weren't quite up to, so I had to walk, but that's ok, it's all part of the challenge and I'll try those hills again this month and maybe I'll get up 1 or 2 of them that I didn't today.
Looking forward to chipping away at the KMS over the long weekend.
Kick Cancer's Butt Day on Wednesday 8th - the cash donations from my fundraising stalls will be officially added, and I know I have some super supportive friends and family who are waiting to make their donation and double its impact. 28 more days to make a big impact! The legs will endure! 🚴🏽♀️👍🏽😊

2 days to go - prep update
28 Sep 20252 days to go until GCC gets officially underway.
A little inconvenient bout of sore throat/cold hitting this past week, but that's not going to stop me getting out on the bike come Wednesday. Some rain forecast for Monday so maybe a light ride if it holds off - if not, a ride on the stat bike at the gym might be the way to go. Plan for Tuesday may be to give the bike a wash so it's sparkling for Wednesday afternoon's Day 1 ride. I also have my little fundraising packs ready - a few bracelets, stickers, and a tiny duck - ready to go out and leave them at random places (parks, playgrounds, a random bench seat). My GCC card is in the pack too, so maybe these will bring in some donations, and if not, they'll bring someone a smile. Looking forward to Wednesday!
(Photo is from last weekend's ride with my nephew. It wasn't a planned ride but grateful I got it in given the past week of mandated rest)

Fundraiser 2 - Bunnings 13/09/2025
13 Sep 2025Today's fundraising stalls at Bunnings Padstow exceeded my expectations. I had hoped for similar to last week, but was blown away by the generosity of a few good men and of course others passing by who put in their loose change or pulled out a fiver (or tenner). I had a couple of nice chats with some sponsors and really enjoyed seeing kids smile and walk away happy with some bracelets, stickers or rubber ducks.
I have lots of bracelets and some more stickers coming, so the plan will be some packs to put out into the community like I did last year and see what comes from them (in terms of donations). Mary was also on hand to keep me company and help set up/pack up. Grateful for the support.
