Last year, I was back in the saddle and participated in my 5th Great Cycle Challenge, passing my target goal of 320km and actually riding 372km. I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my family & friends and raised $3,631. I am back hoping to raise funds again for this worthwhile cause, starting with a target of $2,500. I will ride some of my kms on a stationary bike at the gym (when there is inclement weather or as part of my early morning gym visit); some around my local area when I am back in Canberra (and find magpie-swooping-free routes); but the first few kms will have to be jog/walking around the picturesque Adelaide Hills where I will be for a week without a bike. I will be thrilled to be able to raise valuable funds to support the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

I have enjoyed each year’s challenge and the sore muscles have most definitely been worth it to help kids fighting childhood cancer. The promotional material I received told me that cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in Australia and every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

I start on Wednesday 1st October. I have put my goal as 350km, further than my "official" goal of 2024 of 320km but if I do more again that will be great. Just can't increase too much or my goal for 2026 may be too big as I try to increase a bit each year! Haha!
