My Story

1 Oct 2024

My Dearest Friends,

Today marks the beginning of October, a month that, for the past three years, has been deeply meaningful to me. Every October, I take part in the Great Cycle Challenge to raise funds for life-saving research in pediatric cancer.

Now, you might notice that I haven’t kicked off my cycling journey yet. The reason? I’m currently in Sydney and shall start my journey from 4 October. But rest assured, I am not missing this journey, only starting a few days late, and my determination is stronger than ever.

This cause is incredibly personal to me. As some of you know, my granddaughter, Jubilee, is now 2½ years old. She is full of energy, laughter, and curiosity. Spending time with her is one of the greatest joys of my life. Next year, she’ll be starting kindergarten, and I’ll take her on the back seat of my bicycle then to school.

The thought of children like Jubilee facing the unimaginable hardship of cancer breaks my heart. I ride because I believe in the joy and freedom a bicycle brings, but also because I know that, together, we can help children battling cancer have a future filled with that same joy. These kids are fighting a war that no child should ever have to face, and through our collective efforts, we can support the groundbreaking research that is giving them a chance.

While we may not have the power to cure cancer ourselves, we can be part of the solution. We can transform our support into something real and powerful. I urge you to consider donating to my challenge. Your generosity can turn my kilometers into hope for children who are struggling with something far greater than any of us can imagine.

Your contribution is more than just a donation—it’s a lifeline for these brave children. Let’s come together, not just to ride, but to make a profound difference in their lives and give them the chance they deserve.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Raymond

“Dear Asta, thanks for your support. Not just during this campaign but also during all your prayers and support in our ministry. I left TBC in October 2019 and am now worshipping at Box Hill Baptist Church (English congregation) and exploring with the brothers and sisters a sustainable migrant church model. I will find time to catch up and chat. God Bless! Raymond”
