My Story

This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia. Right now, 90 children are diagnosed every month, and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Cycliq Fly 12

This trusty old workhorse has been replaced with the Cycliq Fly 12 Sport, but I'm still running this old model. It's a front headlight, as well as video camera with crash detection, and Strava overlays. USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

Speedplay Pedals

I purchased these before Wahoo bought out Speedplay a while ago, so they look a bit different. Clip in either side, and still with some movement available, easier on my old knees. Not many people use these, you see more of the SPD format.

Quad Lock Bike Alarm and Finder; and Quad Lock Out Front Mount

The Alarm and Finder is an Apple Find My compatible locater in combination with a fingerprint enabled alarm. I have it screwed to the bottom of the Mount. My iPhone 13 Pro has a Quad Lock phone case that clips in.

Garmin Cadence Sensor 2

Seen along side the Giant RideSense on the left crank, the Garmin cadence sensor measure pedals/minute and connects via Bluetooth to Apple Watch and Workouts app. I usually try and keep cadence around 80-90.

This sensor is installed on my front hub and connects to my Apple Watch via Bluetooth. It provides accurate speed and distance and links in with the Workout app on my watch or iPhone.
