I'm Riding For
Flynn Pfoeffer
I'm supporting 2 year old Flynn from North Queensland (whose Mum works for the same organisation as my daughter). Flynn is currently receiving treatment for a rare form of brain cancer known as an atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumour that was diagnosed in January. The day after his official diagnosis, he was wheeled into the operating theatre for an 8-hour brain surgery during which surgeons were able to remove his tumour. Unfortunately, Flynn suffered a stroke during the surgery and developed a neurological condition that took away his ability to move, talk, eat, drink, and even swallow his own saliva. From a report earlier this month: Flynn has since regained some of the above capacities, but is still unable to walk and talk, and as of the start of October, he had spent over 129 days in hospital since his diagnosis, endured 5 x rounds of chemotherapy, 2 x cycles of induction, and 3 x cycles of high-dose chemo with stem cell rescue. Flynn's treatment plan is focused on hitting his aggressive form of cancer with everything possible, as quickly as possible.
My Story
This October I’ve been taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.
Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die EVERY week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
And so I have been riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
I am extremely grateful for the INCREDIBLE support and generosity of donations during my challenge this month. Thank you so much!

WEEK 4 HERE AND THE RIDE DONE AND DUSTED!
30 Oct 2025Well, I'm very happy (along with my riding legs) to report that I've now reached my 1,000km goal. I'm SO GRATEFUL to fam and friends for all your encouragement; that support definitely provided me with the extra peddle power to get me over the finish line!
AND my original goal was to try to reach the $1,000 mark. However, I have been astounded to see that over $5,000 has been received! A HEARTFELT THANK YOU to those who were in a position to donate.
May brave young Flynn and other kids battling with cancer, walk the road to recovery so that they can lead long and happy lives.
