This ride achieves my revised ride distance target. What a day with the unpredictability of Melbournes weather though maybe predictable would be more appropriate.
A heavily o’cast and coolish morning greeted us at Queenscliff to board the ferry to Sorrento. The ride commenced on disembarking with much anticipation from the hundreds of riders participating in the Around the Bay event.
No rain for the first 25kms then steady rain until about the 90kms mark. Then just to taunt us the sun shone brightly.
The support over the last month has been exceptional and the CMRI has benefited with $4731 from your donations. I feel privileged to be part of it.
Apollo Bay to Torquay not as tough as yesterday’s ride but still had some challenging climbs. Very much followed the coastline with some outstanding scenery and ocean views.
Today was my most challenging ride so far. The distance and especially the climbing was well in excess of anything I had recently tackled. However I’m quickly closing the gap to my revised distance target.
Resumed my challenge today with the next leg riding the iconic Great Ocean Road. Bused to Childers Cove and rode to Port Campbell. Very scenic with ocean sculptures created by the pounding ocean.
Rested and can’t wait to resume my challenge. Tomorrow takes me to the commencement of the Great Ocean Road portion of my ride.
Your support has been awesome and resulted in raising more funds for CMRI than any time previous since my participation.
Ride 12 concludes the first stage of my ride challenge having exceeded my initial target. I will post a revised target after a couple of days rest.
Together we have raised $4519 which is a fantastic achievement. Your support is essential in motivating me and ensures I keep pedaling onwards.
