Final ride of the challenge. Weather was threatening this morning but decided to risk it. Much to our chagrin the rain didn’t stay away and we returned pretty wet through. The second segment was debated whether the ride should continue. As sometimes happens the weather appeared to be easing so some of the group decided to continue. The first few kilometres were fine but it didn’t last and by the end we were thoroughly soaked and dirty as the trail cut up from the bicycle tyres.
Penultimate ride for this campaign. A little more elevation and a nasty headwind made for a tougher ride than previous days.
Great ride today taking in all the scenery and vistas
What a great day and ride to bring up my challenge pledge of 800km. Cold start but breaking into a glorious day of 18c. Well it is the high country of Victoria.
Today’s ride was nearly a reversal of yesterday’s ride except for some coarse gravel back roads which made it interesting.
The climb back up to Beechworth from about the 26km mark wasn’t without effort but at least being a rail trail the gradient was no more than 4%.
