On 1 October, I reached my $500 fundraising target. I still had 701 km left to ride this month, but seeing how generous my family and friends were, I wanted to lift my game a little more.
So I've set a new goal in memory of Batur. I'll now ride 1,023 km, for 23 October 2019, the day we lost him. And I'm aiming to raise $2,012, for the year he was born.
This year marks seven years since Batur became an angel 😇. I wanted this challenge to be as meaningful as it could be, and now every kilometre and every dollar carries a part of him.
Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me so far. Let's keep going together, for Batur and for every child still fighting
As I rode today, I noticed the people around me: some running, some walking, some just cruising on their bikes. When I said "morning," some smiled back and some didn't respond at all.
It reminded me that we never really know what someone is going through. Sometimes there's a lot more happening behind a smile.
I found myself thinking of the parents going back and forth to hospital, taking time off work, then heading back when they can. Putting on their brave faces to keep going, their minds always with their child, but pushing through every single day.
To the parents of kids fighting cancer: I know it's not easy, and I won't lie, it doesn't get easier. But let's fight together to find a cure and keep pushing every day.
No matter how hard your day is, keep smiling. 💛
